Breeding Permissible Adoption Agreement

The following constitutes an agreement between Nicole Peltier (hereinafter known as Breeder) and adopting party: _______________________ (hereinafter referred to as Adopter) regarding rats purchased and listed on this document (hereinafter referred to as rat). These terms and conditions are entered into and agreed upon by both Adopter and Breeder and they acknowledge the moral and legal worth of this contract. Therefore, it is agreed upon that: 1. Adopter realizes and agrees the rat is first and foremost, above all else, a pet. Adopter understands that breeding of the rat is permissible, as agreed to by the Breeder. Adopter understands the rat, if female, is not to be bred for the first time before six months of age, but not after eight months of age, and is not to produce more than two litters in a lifetime. Adopter understands the rat, if male, is not to be bred before six months of age, but may be bred at any time or as many times after six months of age, as long as he is fertile. 2. Adopter realizes and agrees to the responsibility of caring for the animal for its entire life, and realizes rats generally live two to three years. 3. Adopter agrees to provide adequate medical care. adopter realizes rats can be prone to certain ailments and that the rat is a living animal that requires medical care when necessary. 4. Adopter realizes the rat needs a same sex or neutered companion and agrees to provide a companion for the rat. 5. Adopter agrees to provide adequate housing and understands cedar and pine are unaceptable bedding for the rat and agrees to use a safe alternative. adopter agrees to keep the rat's housing clean and provide the best living environment possible. 6. Adopter agrees to provide a proper, nutritious diet and clean water at all times. 7. Adopter understands the importance of proper quarantine and that true quarantine involves housing the animal in a separate airspace from other rats or other rodents that may share communicable diseases. Adopter agrees to quarantine for a minimum of three weeks. 8. Adopter understands and agres that if for any reason he or she is no longer able to properly care for the rat it is to be returned to the Breeder. 9. Adopter understands the importance of good record keeping for the Breeder. With this understanding in mind, Adopter agrees to keep the Breeder up-to-date on the health and temperament of the rat. Adopter also agrees to notify the Breeder about the date and cause of death of the rat. Adopter understands the Breeder will periodically inquire about the rat to stay informed. 10. Adopter agrees to use the prefix BWR in the formal naming of the rat in pedigrees, on websites, and other official documentation where rat's name is stated. Health Guarantee: To the best of the Breeder's knowledge, this rat is free of any illness or contagious disease. The Adopter is responsible for quarantine of the rat for at least three weeks after taking possession of it. If during this three week period the rat develops any illness or contagious disease, the Adopter has the privilege of returning the rat to the reeder for a refund. any illness that occurs after the quarantine period is the responsibility of the Adopter. No other warranties, expressed or implied, are made under this contract, as stated herein.
