Jul. 22, 2007: Black Wolf Rattery is back from the AFRMA show! Tierney won Biggest Rat, Godiva won Most Affectionate, and Aiko was placed as the Best Brood Doe. These rats are now in post-show quarantine, and will return to Black Wolf Rattery in three weeks. The last baby from Granuaile's litter was also placed, and there are currently no more babies available. Planned Litters has been updated. Aiko and Godiva will be bred after they have passed quarantine, for litters that will be born in early September. Aiko is to be bred to Tierney and Godiva to Elan. I expect all babies to be not only beautiful, but very sweet and friendly pets. If you are interested, please make your reservations now, as the wait list is quickly filling up.

June 30, 2007:
Individual pictures of Granuaile's babies are posted. Please check the "Current Litters" page. Babies are still available, if you are
interested, please make reservations now.
Planed litters have been revised. Check that page for more details. Black Wolf Rattery is proud to announce the addition of a new boy. BWR Balthazar was the last remaining boy from Bobet and Godiva's litter. He was always my favorite boy, and after his other siblings were adopted and went to their new homes, he really began to grow on me. Look for him at upcoming shows!

June 28, 2007:
Black Wolf Rattery has received its NARR membership number and is now officially registered once again. I will start registering my rats and litters. If you have already adopted a rat from Black Wolf Rattery and would like to transfer the rat into your name with the registry, please contact me and I will send you the transfer papers when available.

June 22, 2007:
Black Wolf Rattery was once a member of the North American Rat Registry (NARR). Today a new application was sent out to rejoin. Soon BWR will be a registered member of the NARR. The NARR is a national registry for any and all rats, regardless of their heritage or ancestry. It is a wonderful resource to help track the health and longevity of different bloodlines of rats. Although this tool is especially useful for breeders, it can also be a resource for pet owners. For more information check the NARR website: http://www.ratregistry.org
As of today, Black Wolf Rattery now has an e-mail announcements list. This list was made particularly to help adopters stay in touch with BWR and receive periodic updates, news, and announcements regarding Black Wolf Rattery. However, any one is welcome to join. For more information, check out the group website: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/blackwolfrattery

Several boys from BWR were entered: RRLM Tierney, RRLM Elan, PCKG Absolut Zero, BWR Kigali, and BWR Bo bo (Aiko baby #5M). We had several 2nd and 3rd placings, as well as honorable mentions and a runner-up in the pet classes. In addition we had several wins. RRLM Tierney won the Most Laid Back class and BWR Bo bo placed as Best Kitten, which was a close call between him and a beautiful blue girl from Package Ratz. Lastly RRLM Elan also won a couple placings. First he placed Best Stud Buck. In the regular classes he placed Best of Variety and then went on to win Best in Show. Congratulations Elan! Pictures of the rats with their ribbons will be posted soon.

Apr. 3, 2007: Black Wolf Rattery is very sad to announce the death of BWR Misty. Misty was 2.5 years old and was put to sleep due to a tumor on her rear leg. She developed the tumor several months ago, and due to her age I decided not to have her operated on. She lived comfortably until this last week when her mobility was greatly hindered. She was put to sleep before she began to suffer and will be greatly missed.

Apr. 2, 2007: Individual pictures of babies are now up! Six males are still available. All are adorable, all are sweet and friendly, they will be happy to have a family all their own.

Mar. 29, 2007: All female babies are now reserved. There are still six males available, including several dumbos. If you are interested in adopting babies, please make your reservations soon. These babies are beautiful and will probably be snatched up quickly!

Mar. 28, 2007: Black Wolf Rattery is proud to announce the arrival of PCKG Absolut Zero! "Zero" is a Burmese dumbo male and should be an excellent addition to stud for BWR. Overall he has pretty good type and is a nice chunky boy. Pictures will be coming soon.

Mar. 2, 2007: Aiko and Tomoko came home today. Both have gained weight since leaving. Their litters will be due at the end of March. For details, please check my "Planned Litters" page. If you are interested in babies, please make your reservations now.

Feb. 23, 2007: Aiko and Tomoko left BWR to be bred. They should return in about a week. Please check back here or watch the litters pages for updates.

Feb. 18, 2007: Tierney, Elan, and Tobin returned from after-show quarantine today! They are very happy to be home and have settled back in as if nothing different had happened.

Feb. 17, 2007: Black Wolf Rattery is very sad to announce that Godiva will not be having a litter this month. Over the last two days she has lost over twenty grams. Either she aborted and reabsorbed her litter, or was experiencing a false pregnancy. She is closely being watched and has shown no signs of distress. If she did abort and reabsorb her litter, it is expected to be the result of a combination of factors including the time of year, recent weather, and the stress of being moved around between her normal home and the stud's home. BWR will go through with plans to breed Aiko and Tomoko at the end of this month. Godiva will be given the month to rest and recover and will be bred again at the end of next month to the Russian blue stud Bobet.

Feb. 14, 2007: Planned litters updated. Currently four litters planned for the future: in March Aiko will be bred to a Russian blue stud Bobet, and Tomoko will be bred to a silver blue dumbo stud Sterling. These litters should produce black, Russian blue, blue, Russian silver, seal-point Siamese, Russian blue-point Siamese, possibly mink, and both dumbo and standard-ears. In April/May Granuaile will be bred to a black-eyed Siamese stud Johann to produce Siamese-based Burmese. Taking reservations on all litters now.

Feb. 11, 2007: Godiva returned home today! Since the time she left she has gained over two ounces in weight. Her litter is expected around February 18th. More updates to come!

Jan. 28, 2007: Godiva left Black Wolf Rattery to be bred. She will return in about a week. Babies will be expected the third week of February. She is being bred to Sterling, a Russian silver dumbo stid. All babies are expected to be black dumbo-eared, some will have velveteen fur. If you are interested, please make your reservations now.

Jan. 27, 2007: Congratulations Tierney and Elan! Tierney won 1st place in Most Affectionate pet class. Elan won 1st place as Best in AOCP Section. Although Elan was the only rat in that class, he did receive complements on his shading and points.
